The Hywel Dda Health Improvement Dietetic Team provides nutrition skills training for community workers such as nursery nurses, youth workers, care workers, teaching assistants, volunteers and many more. They aim to work with community workers to build food and nutrition skills into the everyday work of those who are in regular contact with community groups and who best understand the needs of local people.
Nutrition Skills for Life® aims to work with partner agencies and organisations to ensure that everyone in Wales has the skills, opportunity and confidence to access the food they need for good health.
Carmarthenshire Food Network was established in 2021 out of Covid-19 where people felt disconnected, and for those who were struggling to access food especially for those who were in need of foodbanks. It brings together community growers, professional food producers, schools, chefs, distributors, foodbanks, community hot food projects and food surplus providers. In addition, stakeholders such as Carmarthenshire County Council, Hywel Dda Health Board and Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services.
Bwydlen Ein Bro is the annual schools’ challenge which provides schools with an opportunity to use produce from their school gardens and link with local suppliers and producers, to develop a community meal based on food meters not miles.
