We offer volunteering opportunities at Bremenda Isaf County Farm near Llanarthne.
This county council owned farm is an exciting and dynamic project, and the hub for Bwyd Sir Gâr Food.
At Bremenda Isaf we are:
- providing access to tools, equipment and machinery through a Lending Library to support the county’s fruit, vegetable and small-scale cereal producers.
- growing organic fruit and vegetables for schools and Carmarthenshire communities in the market garden and fields
- hosting a range of activities and events in the historic barn and community garden
- offering Carmarthenshire school and community groups opportunities to get involved with growing, cooking and meal sharing activities in our community field
Volunteering
Volunteering takes place every Wednesday during school term time at the farm. The day runs from 10am-3pm, with the option to come all day – or just the morning or afternoon.
We are currently recruiting volunteers in three areas across the project.
Bremenda Isaf Community Food Garden
We are developing a community engagement and education area for community groups and schools. Tasks vary from propagating, planting, tending and harvesting fruit and vegetables, developing wildlife friendly areas, propagating flowering plants and more. There is something for everyone in this area, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
The community garden was co-designed in 2025 with people from across Carmarthenshire with the aim of reflecting their ideas in the final plan. The garden is divided into four zones – no-dig vegetable garden, sensory garden, forest garden and forest school area, and an unusual and pioneering plants area.
Bremenda Isaf Market Garden
Bremenda Isaf market garden is a fast-paced organic market garden, growing a wide range of fruit and vegetables for school meals, community food projects, restaurants and shops.
It offers a great opportunity to learn about all aspects of edible horticulture for experienced horticulturists.
There are a wide variety of jobs from propagation and pruning, plant care and harvesting – as well as processing and packing.
Bremenda Isaf Machinery Hub for Growers and site maintenance
Carmarthenshire’s Machinery Hub for Growers is an innovative project to strengthen and diversify the local sustainable food economy by supporting a borrow don’t buy ethos with affordable access to a range of tools, equipment and processing facilities. This includes small items for market gardeners such as seeders, rollers and hoes. Also, cultivation equipment for field-scale production of vegetables including two-wheel pedestrian tractors and attachments, and tractor implements. We also host processing equipment for growers as well as grounds maintenance implements.
All of these tools and equipment require regular TLC. So, if you enjoy working with tools and machinery this is the role for you. There are also opportunities to get involved with using some of the machinery around the site and full training is provided.

If you are a school or community group and would like to visit or get involved with activities in the community garden on a regular basis, do get in touch. Subject to capacity and staff availability we will do our best to accommodate you.
